This implies to me that the HDTracks recordings contain the 1997 master rather than the 2012 remaster, otherwise the copy write date should be 2012. HDTracks gives a copy write date of 1997 for the Ring download files. For the 2012 set, the digital master from 1997 was used and another remastering was performed to create the 2012 addition. The 2012 set was released to commemorate his 100th birthday. ![]() The Ring was released in 1997 as a new remaster to commemorate Solti's 85th birthday. Interesting thread but I have some confusion about the HDTracks set (no surprise there). It was well worth it, but I only now listen to the 24/48 files. I got the box before it was downloadable. ![]() If you just want the music in best possible sound, get the HD Tracks. If you want the swag, and a cd copy for the car, get the box. One of the projects for summer vacation is to spend some quality time with the Ring and get to know it much better, hence my attempts to rip the files and install them on my NAS. I bought the box set partly because of the quality of the performances and recording, and partly because of the included book by Deryck Cooke and the libretti. ![]() Those with more experience than I have with Wagner would have recognized instantly that Das Rheingold is the shortest of the operas. So it looks like I am OK, now that I see what is probably going on (no idea why, of course, but as long as the files are correctly ripped and can be identified I won't question it). I restarted both Passkey and DVD audio extractor, but no change in what I see. The other difference is that your screenshot shows no title for the album, while mine has DER RING DES NIBELUNGEN. So it looks like title3, as DVD audio extractor presents it on my system, is actually Das Rheingold, the first opera, and my title1 is actually Siegfried. I see from your screenshot that title1 has 30 tracks, which matches the contents of the redbook CDs and the listings on the Decca website that you gave. You have "title1" clocking in at 2:26, while I have it at 3:37. It appears that the order of titles is being read differently from what you posted. So how is one supposed to even play the files, never mind ripping? m2ts format, but it won't play them, saying the format is not supported. I opened CyberDVD and located some files under the "video" tab (not "music") in the. My Samsung drive comes with the CyberDVD suite that is supposed to play blu-ray disks and lots of other stuff. I thought maybe I could figure out what's going on by just playing the files off the blu-ray disk. What did I do wrong that I ended up with 51 files? I realize I have to enter the metadata by hand, but I can't do that unless I know what the files are. But there are only 30 tracks on the two CDs for Das Rheingold (assuming that "title 01" is Das Rheingold). The files seem valid, since foobar can play them. ![]() The problem is that I have 51 files numbered "title 01 - chapter 01.flac". I carefully followed the instructions in the tutorial here on ripping blu-ray, using Passkey and DVD audio extractor, and successfully ripped the first title, or so it seemed. I should say that I have never used blu-ray before and so am a complete noob. Based on earlier entries in this thread, I see that people have been able to rip the 24-bit files from the blu-ray disk. I need some help! I own the Solti box set.

Do I have to compress a video in order to share it? Even video recorded on your smartphone is going to need compression to transfer it to cloud storage, your computer to edit it, or even to another person through email or messaging. Overall, video compression makes it possible and easier to share files between any number of sources. If you shoot video footage on your smartphone, for example, chances are it’s being compressed immediately and will be compressed even more throughout your transfer, editing, exporting and uploading process. This is done by using a specific compression algorithm to reduce the total number of bits needed for each frame (or image) contained in the video clip. For example, one of the joys of Dark Alliance was trying to beat your friend to the best weapons. ![]() Unfortunately though there are a few issues that dog the multiplayer side too. In single-player, this isn't an issue - but you really shouldn't be playing it that way because Heroes is, after all, a game for friends to have a laugh playing together. This is not optional, and means the perspective needs constant management in order to stay at any height below the highest. In multiplayer outings, the game has a very frustrating habit of zooming out to the max automatically, to accommodate players fighting in different directions. While the ability to zoom in and out of the action should be a welcome feature, we soon realised that having a fixed height would have been much easier to manage. Yet for every aspect of DA that Heroes matches, there is another in which it lags behind. (And if you haven't played Dark Alliance already, then you really should consider buying that instead.) So it soon became apparent that the question here was never "Is Heroes better than Dark Alliance?" just "Does it live up to it?" This is just Dragon on and on ![]() A lot of the enemies fight and act very like their counterparts in DA. The characters level up just like in Dark Alliance, with points awarded to buy and upgrade skills. Progression through missions is almost identical, with little or no real objectives other than 'infiltrate this' or 'find that'. The similarities aren't just skin-deep, either. The graphics, while not as good as DA, could still pass as the Baldur's Gate game half of the time. The game plays from the same overhead perspective (albeit with a zoom function), the characters lay into enemies in the same fashion, the levels are littered with chests and some of the characters' powers are even the same. Are you going to have your cleric hang back, heal and only do the odd bit of fighting? Or will you give him powers that lean more towards some of Heroes' deadly finishing moves? Will your wizard play it safe, or will she get her hands dirty in the thick of the action? Will your halfling get over her self-consciousness and realise size doesn't matter?Ī quick glance at Heroes, and you'd be forgiven for thinking it was actually Dark Alliance. As you'd expect, each of these characters plays quite differently, and most of the fun revolves around how you and up to three friends decide to handle them. These heroes are a human warrior, a dwarven cleric, an elven sorcerer and a halfling rogue. Instead, it's the 'tale' of four heroes who rise from the dead to defeat the evil they defeated 150 years previously. We wish we could say it was about diseased giraffes taking over a Japanese mining corporation or something, but it's not. So while anyone looking for a roughly enjoyable multiplayer hackandslash might find comfort in Heroes, everyone else might as well wait for DA2 and, perhaps, Norrath. ![]() The problem is that, unlike Dark Alliance, is doesn't do enough to attract the kind of gamers who otherwise might not enjoy roaming through swamps hacking up goblins. It has clearly been designed to appease fans of the Baldur's Gate game, and to this effect it might well have succeeded. It brings very little to the torture table and pulls its punches like a drunken ogre. It's a straight clone of Dark Alliance and makes no orc bones about it. However, Dungeons & Dragons Heroes ensures that while the crown remains firmly on DA's head, there is competition nonetheless. In fact, so bad has the drought been that were it not for the impending release of Champions of Norrath, Brotherhood of Steel and the subject of this very review, come February Dark Alliance 2 would have been its predecessor's only real competition. The Hunter series might be fun, but it's not to everyone's taste. Yet despite the critical and commercial success of Dark Alliance, there hasn't been a single contender for its crown since the day it was released. blimey, not since Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance!"Īnd that's a bit sad really, because co-operative hackandslash gaming is something we should never really be without. When was the last time you had a good slash with someone, eh? How long has it been since you hacked up with a friend? The answer to this is probably: "Last Saturday night actually," but it could also be "God, not since. ![]() Transfer donut holes onto a paper towel-covered plate to absorb the oil.As of January 29, 2023, it has a 4.0 rating based on 93 reviews. ![]() Fry and rotate donut holes until they float and are golden brown. What are the different variations of mochi desserts? The gluttonous rice used in mochi is a pretty versatile ingredient and can essentially be used in all kinds of traditional desserts or baked goods to give them that undeniably chewy texture… Mister Donut in Japan started selling their “pon de rings” mochi donut in 2005, around the same time as the earliest mentions of “mochi donut” on the internet. ![]() Where did they come from?Īlthough mochi itself has been around for centuries (at least since the early part of the first millenium), mochi donuts are a relatively new food creation. They are also typically coated in an assortment of flavored icings or toppings beyond the standard chocolate and vanilla such as matcha, black sesame, ube, etc. Mochi donuts are normally found in three main shapes: the traditional donut, donut holes (round balls) and a donut hole ring (small round balls connected to form a ring). So after these donuts are fried, the result is a slightly crispy exterior with a surprisingly chewy interior. This mochi rice is inherently gluten-free and has a soft gooey texture.
